    No, data free audio music streaming does not include tethering of any kind.

  • Can I keep my number when switching to Optus prepaid?

    Yes! Transferring a phone or service number between phone companies is called 'porting'. The following steps summarise what needs to happen if you want to keep your number and transfer it to Optus.

    1. Head to optus.com.au/activate and have your new Optus Prepaid SIM & some ID handy
    2. Find the Optus SIM number located on your SIM or your SIM card holder
    3. Enter Your Details and be sure they match the details of your current Mobile Service Provider's record
    4. Select Keep Your Number when you've reached the Your Number section in Step 3 and enter your mobile number
    5. Make sure you provide us authority to contact your current Mobile Service Provider and arrange the transfer

    If you've already activated your SIM card and have been allocated a new number, you won't be able to replace the new number with your old number.

    How long does the porting transfer take?
    You can request to transfer to us online at any time; however a number will only 'physically' switchover during the times/days shown below. So if you make a request outside of these hours, your service will remain active with your existing provider until the next business day and then switchover. Switching normally occurs within about 20 minutes, but can take up to 4 hours during these times.

    What will it cost?
    Sometimes if you cancel a contract with another service provider early, they may charge you a fee. Be sure to check with your existing provider as Optus is not liable for any fees incurred as a result of you transferring your service from another carrier.

  • What is data free music streaming about?

    If you're an Optus Prepaid customer on an eligible plan, you can enjoy data free music streaming through the following mobile apps: Google Play Music, iHeartRadio, Pandora and Spotify until 16 July 2017.

    Although streaming music from these apps won't use your included data, you need to have some data or MyCredit in your balance for the apps to work.

    Our streaming service has been designed to not exceed 512 Kbps. This speed is for single usage on your service, to enable you to stream audio music data free through the included mobile music service apps.

    $10 SIM Starter Kit Bonus Data Offer

    Q. How do I redeem the bonus data offer?

    A. It's simple. Any new customer who activates a $10 SIM Starter Kit onto Prepaid Ultimate Plus from 15 January 2018 until 3 June 2018 will be eligible for the offer. This bonus data will be automatically applied to the customer's MyData balance, however there may be a delay in the application of the bonus data of up to 72 hours. Customers need to keep an eye out for an SMS we'll send them confirming when the bonus data has been applied. Offer can only be claimed once per customer.

    Q. When will the bonus data expire?

    A. The bonus data will expire at the same time as the standard inclusion, or if recharge occurs before credit expiry, customers can keep rolling over their unused data up to a max of 10GB. Data that has been rolled over can be found under "MyData Rollover" in their balance. It will be used after any remaining MyData.

    Q. Can I get this offer on other Optus Prepaid plans?

We'll send you an SMS to confirm when your bonus data has been applied. You can check the My Optus app or text "BAL" to 9999 to check your Prepaid balance at any time.

    Q. How will the bonus data appear when I check my Prepaid balance?

    A. Your standard data and bonus data will both appear in your balance as "MyData". You will receive an SMS confirming when the bonus data has been applied. You can check your balance anytime by downloading the My Optus app.

    A. All subsequent $10 recharges on Prepaid Ultimate Plus will get you 500MB data, up to 100 minutes of standard national calls and unlimited standard national SMS/MMS, all for use in Australia within 7 days.     • If you activated your $10 SIM between 15 January 2018 - 4 February 2018 inclusive: You will receive 10GB (3GB standard + 7GB bonus) on first recharge of $30 on Prepaid Ultimate Plus, provided you recharge $30 by 4 February 2018.

New customers who purchase a $30, $40 or $50 SIM Starter Kit and activate on Prepaid Ultimate Plus from 5 February 2018 will get bonus data upon activation of the SIM Starter Kit within the offer period (5 February 2018 until 3 June 2018), as the SIM Starter Kit is considered as a SIM plus recharge.     Q. If I buy three $10 recharges to make up $30, will I be eligible for the bonus data offer?

    A. No. New customers must purchase a $30+ recharge as that denomination. You cannot stack multiple recharges to make up a larger denomination.

    Q. If I buy a $30 and $40 recharge on the same day, can I get the bonus data applicable for a $70 recharge?

    A. No. You will receive the bonus data offer attached to each of the first two recharges you make or redeem. So, if you recharge $30 first and then $40, you will get the bonus data offered on the $30 and then $40. Note that if recharge occurs before credit expiry, any unused data (bonus + standard) will only rollover to a maximum of 10GB.

    MY PREPAID DAILY PLUS The $2 Daily Level is charged on the first outbound standard national call, SMS, MMS, Voicemail, music streaming or data use each day. Some phones are set to seek data automatically, and this will cause the first Daily Level to be charged. Please check your phone settings. If you use more than the included data in the $2 Daily Level, we'll auto charge you another $2 for 524MB data (total of 1GB/$4) to use in the day.
